Relationship Reset: The Umami of Human Connection

Today’s reflection does not include a specific resources, tips, or a field hack.

Instead, it challenges you to reflect on this as a philosophical analogy in its entirety — and for you to decide what resonates and how to apply it in your relationships — in both intent and actions.

How would you like to impact how you show up in relationships — for yourself and for others?

Let’s dig in.

Too often we measure people — and the value of our relationships — by what they can do for you or give to you, instead of seeing their whole being and the gift they bring to your life — their true worth and ROI.

Really see them for who they are.

Strip away the masks that you are both wearing and get to the core — the truest self — at the deepest level.

Think of it like the beautiful surprise of them at their core — like the smallest Russian nesting doll.

You know those sets that start with the biggest doll, and then you open each one to reveal a smaller Russian nesting doll — sometimes up to ten in a set.

Now think of the smallest Russian nesting doll waiting for you to uncover it.

Each of the larger dolls you open is superfluous — big, statement-making, interesting to look at. But the real prize is the smallest one.

That smallest one is intricate. It possesses fragile solidity. It needs to be cherished with delicate care.

Only when you have unveiled the smallest one hidden under the layers do you know the true beauty and heart that you have been gifted into your world.

Too often we allow ourselves — and by ripple effect, others — to open only a couple of layers before we get distracted by noise and another proverbial shiny object in the world.

We diminish the reverence and the umami by our lack of patience for the unfolding — or we rush before we are able to see the value of the unique complexities.

So how do you stay seated in the unfolding for both yourself and others?

How do you get to the treasure of the most intricate nesting doll?

How do you unfurl that beauty and recognize the light and treasure?

You shed the layers.

You go all-in with the experience.

You patiently treat each level with gentleness and transparent intention for action as you unlock each layered level.

You:

Show up to the table without any outside energies to distract or dilute the unfolding — with complete authenticity, transparency, and genuine love for the actions you are taking.

Make it an emotionally and physically safe place and experience in order to shed each layer — clearing away anything that can impact or cause harm to the experience.

Are vulnerable and appreciative with each layer — connecting fully in the present moment and really seeing, with all of you, what each new proverbial nesting doll adds to the overall set.

Bring your best energy, excitement, patience, gentleness, and joy — with reverence for the unfolding process.

Bring complete understanding and resulting actions that showcase the value of the unique worth and irreplaceable nature accordingly — understanding this isn’t a game.

And you savor the total umami of the experience with complete dedication and focus — really see it, feel all of it, completely bask in it, savor it.

We, as humans, limit ourselves to one or two dolls — with ourselves and with others — and rob ourselves in the process.

The true magic of those nesting dolls lies in getting to the full core — by design — the true heart of the core.

The beautiful and highest vibrational energies available for deep connections lie at the core — just waiting for you to unfurl the layers.
