Dream a Little Dream with Me: Expansion

As I often do, I found myself reflecting on the possibilities before us—this moment in time feels ripe with opportunity for humanity to rise, to heal, and to imagine something better. Louis Armstrong, my favorite musician, once crooned, “Dream a little dream of me.” Today, those words feel less like a lullaby and more like a quiet invitation—to dream not just for ourselves, but for the world we long to see. I know I am taking some liberties with the lyrics, but I couldn't help but be inspired by the crooning.

What if global society was rewritten based on self-sovereignty, creativity, innovation, empathy, limitless possibilities, and unconditional love for the unique strengths buried across the various cultures, systems, and societies of humanity?

That question had me reflecting on possibilities this morning—asking what if? What are some of the foundational ideologies that would enable evolution for the global collective:

  • What if we explored best practices from all countries and cultures to rework systems?

  • What if we celebrated the unique magic of individuals and assessed every minute of our daily actions to live that philosophy?

  • What if the mutual political goal was to negotiate with a win-win mentality—pushing ego aside and seeing through the proverbial leaves and branches of the tree to get to the treasure of motivation at the root of what is really wanted and needed—the vulnerable truth of the underbelly?

  • What if all connections were based on authenticity, respect, truth, openness, and support of differences?

  • What if there was complete religious tolerance and understanding in existence—putting aside the nuances of the lenses and focusing instead on the foundational belief of doing and being good for humanity?

  • What if organizational and familial systems were looked at like a blank canvas and newly painted through the eyes of supporting the beauty of the individuals within them—allowing the proverbial cream to rise to the top and enabling innovation, curious possibilities, learning, and revolution to result?

  • What if we looked at rapid technological changes through the lens of possibilities for the betterment of society and humanity—for scientific exploration, healthcare, systems, and broader society at large?

  • What if we joined hands across the globe and stopped filtering ideation through the barriers of what cannot take place and instead opened up to the possibility of what ifs?

  • What if we treated the globe as abundant and viewed our competition that way—that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts—and catapulted industries into new frontiers as a result?

  • What if we were courageous enough to eradicate the foundations and systems that no longer foster the evolution and betterment of individuals and the societies within which they operate?

  • What if the new standard and bar was no longer to keep everyone small, but rather to measure by how many you fully embraced to dream big and fly?

  • What if we all mastered our own minds, emotions, judgments, and labels—being seated in the self-sovereign knowing that we are all worthy, valued, equal, just, truthful, and unique? A mindset of authenticity, possibility, empowerment, thriving, and collective commonality in our Maslow's hierarchy of needs—loving thy neighbor in any form.

We are at a tipping point in society—an opportunistic pivot point—with the trifecta of incredible technological advances, leadership for humanity, and rapid global change. And I believe we are being called to make a choice. Things are grossly out of balance, inequitable, and unsustainable. We have a choice to do better—to be better. We have a choice between comfort and courage. A choice between what is versus what can be. A choice between speaking up or resting on your laurels. A choice between wearing masks or unveiling your truest authentic selves.

Who do you/we want to be? Let’s make it our best new chapter yet... and be an active participant in crafting that next part of the global story.

“When we rise together, there is no limit to what we can reimagine, rebuild, or become. The next chapter belongs to all of us.”- ChatGPT
