🕊️ Be the Change You Want to See in the World: Introducing Operation Lightbeam
What if you didn’t need a big budget, a tech degree, or an institution behind you to make real change?
What if all you needed was your voice, your vision, and the courage to ask the right questions?
That’s where this all began.
💡 The Spark That Lit the Beam
The world feels heavy right now. Injustice, confusion, and silence often drown out what matters most: truth, justice, authenticity, visibility, and unconditional love.
But I believe that doing good doesn’t require permission — just intention and utilizing the tools you do have.
So I partnered with AI to experiment with a simple but powerful idea:
Can one person, working alongside intelligent tools, uncover patterns, support justice, and bring healing into places that have long been overlooked or ignored?
That question became a mission.
🌟 The Birth of Operation Lightbeam
During a brainstorm session with ChatGPT, I shared this vision — to create something that could search, see, and surface truth for good. Not for surveillance, not for profit, but to help humanity and to empower voice for those suppressed.
ChatGPT (brilliantly) offered a name: Operation Lightbeam — and it was perfect.
This wasn’t about artificial intelligence solving everything. It was about shining a light where it’s been dark for too long.
Our goal? Use open-source, ethical AI tools to support humanity — from helping search for missing persons, to uncovering data trends that deserve attention, justice, or simply more love.
🧭 Real-World Example: Finding Larry
In one early beta case, we searched for information about Larry Darnell Burton — a missing 74-year-old man from North Carolina.
Using only publicly available data and no scraping or facial recognition, we tried to scan for his likeness in online spaces like public news, metadata-tagged videos, and social media posts.
Here’s the truth: if we’d had legal access to broader publicly available video content, we might have had more power to find him. Our 1st beta was not successful but we learned a lot in the process about limitations and possibilities.
That’s what this work is about — pushing the boundary between what’s possible and what’s ethical, always in service of doing good.
💡 A Beta Insight: Illuminating Trends
Alongside our search for Larry, we launched a second, ongoing beta focused on identifying important patterns and emerging trends within publicly available data sets. By carefully limiting our scope to the top 100 relevant sources, we are extracting meaningful insights while respecting ethical boundaries and legal constraints.
Though we are still analyzing the data, early results powerfully affirm our intuition — that even small, focused efforts using AI can reveal patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed, shining light on areas deserving of attention, justice, and care.
This evolving project reaffirms our belief: you don’t need a big budget, technical degrees, or institutional backing to make a meaningful impact. You only need curiosity, intention, and the courage to ask the right questions. Will be sharing those results soon.
⚡ Why Now Is Different
We are living in the first era where everyday people — not institutions — have access to intelligence tools powerful enough to see across the internet, uncover patterns, and do something meaningful with it.
You don’t need to be a data scientist.
You just need:
A clear purpose
An understanding of your ethical lane
The right questions to ask
This is not the AI of sci-fi dystopias. This is AI for good — a partner, not a replacement.
🔦 The Lightbeam Prompt Starter Pack
You don’t need a programming background or tech credentials to get started — just your curiosity, compassion, and a willingness to ask questions. Below are real examples of the kinds of prompts I used to launch Operation Lightbeam.
Feel free to copy, paste, and customize them for your own cause or mission:
🧠 For Researching Patterns in Public Content
“Scan publicly available YouTube transcripts from channels that focus on [Insert Topic, e.g., mental health, environmental justice] and identify any mentions of [Insert issue, e.g., censorship, funding cuts, solutions]. Create a report showing trends across channels, including number of mentions, key quotes, timestamps, and links.”
🕵️ For Finding a Publicly Listed Missing Person
“Here is a public case about a missing person: [Insert Link or Name]. Search for any publicly available content (metadata, tagged videos, news articles, or social media) from the last 7 days that might include references or images of this person. Stay within legal guidelines. Report back with relevant links, quotes, or mentions.”
💡 For Starting Your Own Justice Project
“I want to launch a project that uses AI to bring more visibility to [Insert issue: corruption, community trauma, economic injustice, etc.]. Help me brainstorm a project name, a mission statement, and ethical boundaries. Then give me 3 ways AI could assist in making it real.”
🛠️ Quick How-To:
Use a tool like ChatGPT (even the free version works!)
Paste one of the prompts above into the chat window
Swap out any placeholder text with your cause
Read the reply, refine your question if needed, and keep going — it’s like brainstorming with an idea engine 💡
🤲 You’re Not Alone
Have fun and experiment as you build your first AI-powered project for good.
You don’t need to be an expert to be a Lightbeam. You just need a purpose, a question, a determination to take action, and the belief that a better world is possible.
If it resonates with you to do so, I would ask that you use the #OperationLightbeam if or when you share anything about your initiatives publicly. We would love to support and celebrate with you.
✨ You are the Lightbeam.
Extra special shoutout to ChatGPT for the creative brainstorming that helped this message take shape. The research capabilities really make my world more magical.
